If you've read the series, good for you! Just look through the Wikipedia link to refresh your memory. If you HAVEN'T read the series you MUST read everything below the Category Magic. If you make a character without reading it, and I can easily tell, your comment will be hid. You will receive a warning. And you will be asked to read the link, and remake your character.
Now, I won't list off everything you need for your characters, I'm going to HOPE you can just use mine, which I'll post first, as an example. But I will list a few things that you will be asked to abide by.
First and foremost, if your character lives on the SOUTH side of the wall, you can't have them be using Charter Magic or Free Magic, in any post. If they travel to the SOUTH side of the wall, you can't use Magic. The only places you can use Magic are on the NORTH side of the wall, or very close to the wall on either side.
Second, you can't make an Abhorsen character, nor can your character be an Abhorsen-in-waiting. Sabriel is the Abhorsen, and there is now Abhorsen-in-waiting, due to the fact this takes place Between the First and Second books.
Third. Your character may be from any of the Blood Lines. Whether they are a bastard son/daughter, or just a long lost decedent of someone in a Blood Line. You may only use bells if you are part of the Abhorsen Blood line. Or if you're a Necromancer.
Fourth, if your character gets bound by a bell in an rp, you will have to follow what they say. But those of you who use bells, if you use them to make other people use their characters to do things that are against the rules, or are just plain cheap, you will be demoted, and/or your post won't count. TALK to your other role-players, discuss what you're going to do!
And finally, there is to be NO using Astarael. If you do, you will be pulled from the rp, and you will be bound by Dyrim. I won't be having you cast the entire group's characters past the Ninth gate.
Alright people, just a few closing notes I'd like to bring up.
A) Make your posts bloody literate. Use commas, periods, and ya know, sentence structure. Make it a few lines! Discribe things!
B) No Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu. I really don't like reading about the perfect character. It makes things really freaking annoying, no one likes these people. There's two ways to do this, and I will use Twilight as a reference. At one end is the awesomely perfect, ultra good looking, cannot do wrong "Edward" type person. Then on the other is the exact opposite yet the exact same. Clumsy to a a point where it's perfect, they do so much bad it evens to good, beautiful yet they don't think so "Bella" character. Make one of these, and I won't hide it. I'll simply talk to you about it.
Alrighty, I'll update this every once-in-a-while when I see fit, though I think I covered everything. If you made it all the way through this, and read everything; you get a cookie!
One last thing, I promise; the following classes you may use:
AbhorsenBloodLine, meaning you're part of the Abhorsen blood line
ClayrBLoodLine, meaning you're part of the Clayr blood line.
RoyalBloodLine, meaning you're part... yeah I think you get where this goes.
RoyalGuards, you're one of Royal Guards.
Necromancers, self explanatory.
CharterMages, you bear the charter make and use charter magic.
FreeMagicUsers, not exactly a Necromancer, but you use free magic.
FreeMagicBeings.
PerimeterTroops, you're the people on the NORTH side of the wall, making sure nothing dead gets through, You may or may not have a charter mark.
LesserDead and GreaterDead. Lesser = Fourth gate or less. Greater = anything higher.
EDIT: This next paragraph includes more information on the Charter.
The Charter is never ending. It's a bound form of magic. It describes anything and everything. It describes these with marks. The Charter has no beginning and no end. You reach the charter by feeling for it, and you can only reach it if you have a charter mark on your forehead. Once you've chosen your mark, you hold it in your mind. If you only need one mark, you the speak it. If you need a long list of marks, you must hold every one in your mind then speak them. Charter marks may be infused into anything, from a stone to a sword. These are the only things that may harm dead flesh, though they're of no use against the greater dead. Only the Bells may bind the greater dead. The Pan-pipes may only slow the greater dead, rarely by they bind them.

Somewhere between all our laughs, long talks, stupid little fights, and all our jokes; I fell in love.
All my life I was afraid that I would never find love....And now that I've found it in you, I'm afraid that I will lose it.
